We arrive at the small, modern Washington Street Station, near Buffalo Bayou, headwaters of the 50-mile ship channel connecting Houston with the Gulf of Mexico. The modern glass towers of downtown include the nearly-touching, twin chisel-shaped black towers of the Pennzoil complex and the brown, many-spired Bank of America building.
