This city might well be called the "water works" of America's second largest state. More than 70 million gallons of water flow daily from San Felipe Springs. The water is for irrigation as well as domestic use. Del Rio is one of the world's largest shipping points for wool and mohair. It is also home of the original blue jeans.

The Texas Eagle stops at the Del Rio Regional Transportation Center, a pioneer intermodal facility in the state of Texas. The center is also home to several intercity bus and taxi companies, as well as local transit. While unstaffed by Amtrak, the center is staffed by bus personnel and has waiting areas with restrooms and telephones.
